FREE Downtown Shuttle Coming Soon

FREE Downtown Shuttle Coming Soon

The rumors are true and activity is in motion for a FREE downtown shuttle!  CARTA’s downtown shuttle DASH will be combining two of its routes into one King-Broad-Market-Meeting route that will run every 10 minutes.  This means plenty of stops and plenty of places to hop on!

Tuesday the Charleston City Council voted in favor of the plan and the wheels are in motion for the shuttle to begin running November 22nd; just in time for the holidays!  Funding will come from several places (Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, State Ports Authority, and tourist tax-revenue).

This is great news for downtown businesses, local residents who are apprehensive about shopping downtown due to parking and walking distances, and of course tourists.  The shuttle will be an excellent asset once the port redevelopment happens at the end of Market/East Bay.
