dunes properties closes 2013 out with a 43% increase in real estate sales
2013 was a great year for the real estate market, locally and nationally. As of December 10, 2013, the Charleston area was continuing to outperform 2012 numbers, according to The Charleston Trident Association of REALTORS® (CTAR). Charleston became home to new companies last year, which brought many new job opportunities to the Lowcountry. This steady job growth has had a positive impact on the Charleston market with higher home sales and rising prices.
While inventory is still low, sales at the end of November, 2013 had increased by 22% and the median sales price went up 8%. The new CTAR President, Corwyn Melette, showed optimism for the coming year based on the growth in 2013, stating that “The year-to-date figures show impressive growth in our regional real estate market over the past 11 months.”
Dunes properties saw these positive changes in the market reflected in the company sales throughout the year. dunes properties closed 2013 with a total of $120,405,709 in residential sales in Charleston County, according to the Multiple Listing Service, ranking us 8th in the county. In the TriCounty area that is comprised of Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley Counties, dunes properties ranked 10th, with $128,826,296 in residential sales. This is a 43% increase in sales from 2012 to 2013 with $38 million more in sales for 2013.
With prices and sales on the rise, hopefully 2014 will continue to see these growing numbers throughout the Charleston region.
