“A bucket list city!”  “The food, history, architecture and people are wonderful.”  “Gracious and beautiful.”  “Amazing shopping,” and “magnificent” bed and breakfasts.  “Insanely nice locals.”

These are just a few of the flattering remarks about the Holy City left by readers as they gave us the # 1 spot for the third year in a row as a Top City. Last year we were excited to be voted by readers as the best city in the world. This year we still made the top 10 as number five for our “sand, sun, history, good food, and friendly people.”

Condé Nast Traveler Magazine bases its ratings off of Atmosphere, Culture, Friendliness, Lodging, Restaurants, and Shopping. Besides the “Top City” category, other accolades include “Top 25 Islands in the World,” “Top 20 Resorts in the South,” “Top 10 Hotels in Charleston” and “Top 100 Hotels and Resorts in the World.”

By the looks of the votes in these categories, the City isn’t the only part of Charleston that readers love. Kiawah Island was voted 4th out of 25 islands as one of the top islands in the world, and The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort came in at the same spot as one of the best resorts in the South. As a “gorgeous island paradise” that is a perfect “vacation away from all of the hustle and bustle,” there’s no doubt that Kiawah is a special place.

Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms was on the same list as one of the Best Resorts in the South for its golfing and wonderful atmosphere. Not to mention that throughout the various Reader’s Choice Awards are all sorts of different hotels and resorts throughout South Carolina, including Hilton Head and Bluffton.
