James Island
After many years of being essentially a bedroom community for neighboring historic Charleston, the town of James Island was formed in 1993. This was the same year that the James Island Connector made travel to this sea island easier and faster than ever. James Island is surrounded by the Charleston Harbor, Wappoo Cut, the Stono River, and the Folly River. It’s not surprising that the Island is known for fishing, shrimping, and beautiful scenic water views. The island also features the Charleston Municipal Golf Course and the James Island County Park, famous for its yearly Festival of Lights and summertime waterpark. James Island is family friendly living at its best.
