Windermere
Also known as “Old Windermere” and “South Windermere” The majority of homes in Windemere are one story 1950s ranch homes but you will find some waterfront or marshfront homes which are often larger as well as more expensive. The wide variety of price points makes for this neighborhood fairly popular. Also the location, nearby is the South Windermere shopping area with coffee, upscale grocer, office supplies, yoga studio, and other specialty shops. Once part of a public recreational area known as The Pleasure Grove, Windermere was one of Charleston’s first suburban neighborhoods in the 1930s. Minutes from downtown Charleston and surrounded by creeks, waterways and shady trees, South Windermere tends to attract and keep its residents.
Windermere has kept the look and feel of 1930s-1950s era neighbhorhoods but a number of newer constructions show a harmonious merge of new and old and have added to the variety of homes. Some homes include docs and scenic waterfront views along the Wappoo and Coburg Creeks.
