There is an interesting article by Sandra Tsing Loh that is in the most recent Atlantic magazine. It takes a while for her to get to her point but using recent flms and books as examples, Tsing Loh comes to the conclusion that women are replacing their obsession (her word, not mine) with love and marriage for an obsession with real estate. That female pursuits are becoming more about who gets the real estate than who gets the man.
She sites the example of Manhattan real estate being an important character in fiction for years and how the role of real estate has invetibly expanded into that of a main character. Whether you can agree with her or not, it’s worth a read.
