The BB&T Food and Wine Festival’s Ticket Launch Party tonight kicks off what is going to be a very busy Fall filled with exciting culinary Lowcountry events. The Launch Party is held annually in order to give Food and Wine attendees an idea of what the 2014 festival will be like. This year, the event will take place at the Mixson Bath and Racquet Club, a private club in North Charleston that will give party goers a poolside venue along with games like bocce and badminton.
The event will feature a preview of what is to be a new and improved Culinary Village and music from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. But the main attraction, of course, is the food and drink provided by Charleston Chefs, Mixologists, and Farmers/Purveyors in the area.
Charleston Restaurant Week just wrapped up and the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association will be hosting its next event next weekend, Southern Living’s Taste of Charleston, September 27th-29th. This is the 33rd year of The Taste of Charleston, which takes place over three days and features various Charleston Restaurants with a few different events.
- Friday, 9/27: Sweet and Southern on Shem Creek. Live music, Lowcountry cuisine from Food for The Southern Soul and Charleston Bay Gourmet, and Harbor Cruises
- Saturday, 9/28: Iron Chef Competition. Local chefs competing at the Culinary Institute of Charleston with 45 minutes to cook 4 dishes with a secret ingredient
- Sunday, 9/29: Main event at Boone Hall Plantation. Sample size food portions from 50 Lowcountry casual and fine dining restaurants; food from a selection of food trucks; entertainment including live music and a children’s area with jump castles and acrobatics
- All weekend: Taste of Charleston Dine Around. Participating restaurants will present three course menus paired with specialty beer
As if all of that isn’t enough to stomach, there are also a slew of fun activities taking place over Columbus Day Weekend. A new event, Island Brews and Chews Craft Beer Festival, will be taking place at the Wild Dunes Resort. This is an exciting new event that will give people a chance to experience the newest addition to the Resort, Palm Cove, where it will take place. Chews and Brews will focus on local, regional, and national craft beers along with food stations and lawn games.
These are just a few of many in a great line up of various culinary events taking place around the Charleston Area over the next few months. Check out Charleston City Paper if you’re interested in seeing what other activities are taking place!
