Wagener Terrace

Just a short bike ride from Downtown Charleston, Wagener Terrace remains one of the most affordable neighborhoods on the Charleston Peninsula. Popular with young professionals and families given its close proximity to the majority of Charleston’s restaurants and shopping, Wagener Terrace has homes built from the 1920s-1950s on its tree lined streets.  Residents enjoy Ashley River views to the west, the beautiful Hampton Park to the south, and the newly refurbished Corinne Jones Playground in the middle of the neighborhood.

Insider Tip:
For the best sunset views, stroll to the Ashley River at the base of St. Margaret Street. If you are lucky, on the weekends you might catch a peek of a wedding at the last plantation left on the Peninsula, Lowndes Grove.

Barbara Atkins is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University and Winthrop University, where she earned a Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Nutrition. She is a Registered Dietitian with 18 years of pharmaceutical sales experience with Bristol –Myers Squibb in Charlotte, NC and the Tampa Bay area.

After living in the Carolinas and visiting family in the Charleston area for many years, she and her husband Mark decided to relocate to Folly Beach. Her sons Jake and Nick visit frequently from New Hampshire and Florida, and her daughter Caroline graduated from the College of Charleston in May 2018.

Barbara enjoys the serene beaches, spectacular sunsets, beautiful county parks, tennis, boating, and kayaking throughout the marshlands. Dining and shopping in historic Charleston has always been a favorite date. Frequently she has to remind herself that she is no longer a visitor, but fortunately a resident of the Lowcountry.
